LexSteward review
A capable legal operations suite with governed AI, but a high per-attorney price.

LexSteward is legal practice-management software for solo lawyers, small firms, and larger practices that want intake, matter operations, billing, documents, and client communications in one web-based system. Its feature set covers adaptive intake workflows, contacts, conflict screening, deadline and docket management, document automation, time tracking, earned-fee billing, invoices, expenses, payments, and a firm-branded client portal. Ward, its governed AI assistant, supports summaries, intake triage, matter questions, deadline surfacing, and document drafting, while attorney approval is required for legal, client-facing, billing, and deadline-related actions.
Pricing is organized around a $149 Practice management plan per attorney per month, with monthly or annual billing. Both versions include unlimited staff seats and matters, unlimited matters and storage under fair use, core practice-management features, the client portal, and Ward AI. The annual version adds free standard migration. A 14-day free trial is available. The optional Marketing plan costs $99 per firm per month and adds unlimited pages and leads, four weekly content pieces per month, an AI-built website, lead-generation calculators, and AI intake and research-first content. Enterprise adds on-premises or VPC deployment by engagement, SSO/SAML, a service-level agreement, and dedicated AI capacity.
LexSteward is most compelling for firms that prioritize structured intake and governed AI alongside conventional practice-management workflows. Guided data import and migration support can help firms move into the platform, while the client portal is rolling out rather than fully established. The product is a weaker fit for firms that require trust or IOLTA accounting, broad integration coverage, or native access beyond the web. Its security and deployment story is more developed at Enterprise level, but SOC 2, HIPAA, and PIPEDA certifications are roadmap items. Firms should choose LexSteward for its intake-to-billing scope and AI controls, not for a mature ecosystem or trust-accounting depth.
