Latitude review
A free Java mod for climate-zoned overworlds with finite sizes and navigation tools.

Latitude reshapes Minecraft Java overworld biome placement around five climate bands that run from the equator toward the poles. It is aimed at survival, exploration, and modpack play, especially for players who want climate zones to guide where they travel. Worlds are finite, with six selectable sizes, and players can choose a spawn climate zone. The mod is free and supports Fabric and NeoForge across the listed Minecraft versions, from 1.20.1–1.20.4 and 1.21.1 through 26.3.
Its strongest distinction is how climate and navigation work together. A customizable HUD displays a compass, latitude, biome, and climate-zone information; server commands can also inspect and navigate the climate map. Cold hazards near the poles and fog near world edges make the geographic layout relevant to exploration, not just a change to biome placement. Latitude also supports selected biome packs through biome tags, including Biomes O’ Plenty, Terralith, CliffTree, Tectonic, Geophilic, and William Wyther’s Overhauled Overworld. That makes it a potential fit for modpacks built around those options, though compatibility is not universal.
Latitude focuses on overworld climate bands, finite boundaries, and navigation rather than adding biomes or generating additional dimensions. Its terrain customization is narrower than a full terrain overhaul, so players seeking broad changes to landforms or dimension generation should look elsewhere. The changes affect newly generated worlds, which makes it a better choice when starting a world with Latitude in mind than when trying to reshape an existing one. Choose it for exploration organized by latitude and world edges; skip it if expansive terrain redesign is the main goal.
