A low-cost research and citation layer for lawyers, developers, and AI agents.

Kvasir is a web application and REST/MCP grounding service for lawyers, developers, and AI agents. It combines full-text and semantic search across German federal and state law, Austrian, Swiss, and EU law, plus selected court decisions and legislative materials. Its research workflow covers reading, citation, organization, and change tracking, with folders, bookmarks, comments, and sharing. The product is particularly suited to users who need source-based legal research and traceable citations at a low monthly cost.
The pricing structure keeps entry straightforward. Hobby costs €0 per month and includes the full app, search, folders, comments, sharing, API key and MCP access, 2,000 sips per month, and a usage dashboard. Pro costs €12 per month, adds 5,000 sips per month, and includes overflow billing per sip with a spend limit enabled by default. Enterprise uses negotiated firm-wide volume, DPA, invoicing, negotiated terms, prioritized coverage and endpoint requests, and direct founder contact. The vendor states that Pro billing is not yet live, so teams should treat the published plan as the intended pricing structure rather than an active billing workflow.
Kvasir’s strongest distinction is citation grounding across both research and AI workflows. It resolves citations to canonical legal objects, verifies citations against official wording, checks drafts for citations, quotations, repealed law, and pending changes, and provides sentence-level deep links, ready-made citations, provenance, version history, change feeds, word-level diffs, and citation graphs. Integrations span ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Perplexity, Mistral Le Chat, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and MCP clients. Choose Kvasir for source retrieval, citation verification, and AI grounding; choose an alternative when case analysis is the primary requirement.
