Job-Eval review
A free, open-source evaluator for local resume-to-job comparison with paragraph-level evidence.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Job-Eval evaluates resumes against job descriptions and turns the comparison into an overall fit score plus separate scores for requirement coverage, seniority fit, domain alignment, and ATS-style keyword overlap. It accepts PDF or text resumes and job descriptions supplied as URLs or text. Candidates can use it to compare their resume with multiple roles, while recruiters can use it as a screening and triage aid rather than an automated hiring decision tool. The product is available through a hosted website and can also run locally as open-source software.
Its strongest distinction is explainability. Job-Eval highlights paragraph-level evidence behind its scoring results, giving users more context than a single match percentage. Batch scoring lets one resume be compared against multiple jobs, and evaluations can be saved and compared over time on the website. Local CPU or GPU execution gives engineers and job hunters an option to process evaluations on their own machines, making the product a practical fit for individual workflows that prioritize local evaluation and transparent scoring.
Job-Eval is free, with a hosted offering described as free forever; signup unlocks unlimited evaluations, while anonymous users receive one evaluation. Its scope is more focused than recruiter-oriented screening platforms, and it does not provide API access. That makes it a strong choice for individuals, engineers, and smaller screening workflows centered on resume-to-job comparison, but a less suitable option for teams that need broader recruiting-platform integrations or programmatic access.
