Our verdict on JackTrip
JackTrip is an online music collaboration platform for musicians, educators, ensembles, and producers who need to rehearse, perform, record, or stream together. Its core focus is low-latency, bidirectional audio, supported by cloud-based virtual studios, video, synchronized backing-track playback, recording, livestreaming, and a desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Browser access and an Audio Bridge plug-in for VST3 and AUv2 extend the workflow into supported DAWs. The platform also combines a hosted service with the free, open-source JackTrip project.
Pricing is structured around a Free plan and three paid studio-hosting tiers. Free supports joining sessions, managing your own server, and access to community forums and help docs. Lite costs $4.08 per month with annual billing and adds unlimited studio usage, sessions of up to three hours, up to five musicians, one concurrent session, and up to 360p video. Essential costs $8.25 per month with annual billing and supports sessions of up to six hours, up to 10 musicians, public or unlisted livestreams, audio stems, and unlimited public recordings. Advanced costs $16.58 per month with annual billing and raises session length to 12 hours, musician capacity to 30, and concurrent sessions to three. Paid plans are free for the first four weeks.
JackTrip fits teams that need real-time audio rather than a general-purpose file-sharing workspace. Its integrations include Logic Pro, GarageBand, Ableton Live, Studio One, FL Studio, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, while livestream simulcasting, private recording, stem recording, AI-generated background tracks, and DAW connectivity broaden its use beyond rehearsal. Choose it for remote musicians who want virtual studios and streaming in one product. It is less suitable for groups that need more than 30 musicians in one plan or whose work does not depend on real-time audio collaboration.
