IOU review
A receipt-focused iOS splitter for precise group expenses and quick settlement.

IOU is a mobile bill-splitting app for friends, roommates, trips, dinners, and other shared purchases. It runs on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision devices, with receipt scanning and photo upload for shared bills. After extracting line items, IOU lets people assign specific items or divide totals equally, by percentage, exact amount, or adjustment. Groups retain balances, receipts, and shared expense history, making it suited to recurring household groups as well as one-time outings.
The freemium model includes a free plan, while IOU Pro is offered through in-app purchases. The feature set covers tax, tip, and additional charges, plus foreign-currency support for expenses across currencies. CSV and PDF export help move records into other workflows, and spending trends highlight largest expenses. These tools make IOU more detailed than a basic equal-split calculator, particularly when one receipt contains items for several people.
Its main focus is receipt-level allocation rather than broad payment infrastructure. Settlement connects with Venmo and Cash App, while groups keep their own balances and history inside the app. Support is available by email. Choose IOU if your group uses Apple devices and needs precise item assignment, flexible split methods, and expense visibility. Consider another option if participants need Android or web access, require settlement services beyond Venmo and Cash App, or prefer support channels other than email.
