Our verdict on InPage
InPage is a paid Windows-based desktop-publishing application for newspapers, magazines, books, and other documents in Urdu, Arabic, and related Perso-Arabic scripts. It is designed for professional publishing workflows that require Nastaliq and Naskh font support, multilingual documents, structured page layouts, and script-aware composition. Character and paragraph style sheets, multi-level bullets and numbering, footnotes, endnotes, and section-based page numbering support longer and more structured publications.
Its strongest advantage is the depth of its page-layout feature set for this script family. Master-page images, borders, and chapter headings help standardize recurring elements across documents, while AI and EPS import support graphic-oriented workflows. Page export includes EPS, GIF, PNG, TIFF, and BMP, and EPUB generation extends the output options beyond print-oriented pages. These capabilities make InPage a practical fit for teams producing Urdu or Arabic newspapers, magazines, books, and other designed documents from a Windows environment.
The trade-off is focus. InPage is built around script-specific publishing rather than broad platform coverage, so Windows-only support may not suit teams that need the same workflow across operating systems. It is also paid software, with downloadable and dongle-based editions described by the vendor, but the product positioning centers on publishing functionality rather than a wide ecosystem. Choose InPage when Urdu, Arabic, Nastaliq, or Naskh typesetting is the deciding requirement; choose an alternative when cross-platform access or broader general-purpose publishing coverage matters more.
