IndexTTS is an open-source, self-hosted text-to-speech system from the Bilibili IndexTTS Team. It is designed for developers and researchers who need zero-shot voice cloning from a single reference audio clip and want to deploy speech generation on their own hardware. The current IndexTTS 2.5 release supports Chinese, English, Japanese, Spanish, and Arabic. It provides a local browser-based WebUI, Python API, command-line inference, and production serving through vLLM, with WAV export listed for voice-cloning workflows.

Pronunciation control is a central strength. Users can guide output with Pinyin, CMU phonemes, and Japanese Kana, while a duration factor controls speaking speed. Emotion can be directed through reference audio, vectors, or text. These controls give IndexTTS a more detailed speech-generation workflow than a basic clone-and-synthesize tool, particularly for developers working with multilingual or pronunciation-sensitive content. The local WebUI provides an interface for browser-based use, while the Python API and command-line inference support integration into developer workflows.

IndexTTS fits teams that want open-source, self-hosted deployment across web, Windows, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments. Its production serving support through vLLM adds a path for deployment-oriented projects, but the product is not presented as a standard hosted subscription with predefined commercial plans. Commercial users are directed to contact Bilibili, and the license includes additional conditions and restrictions. Choose IndexTTS when deployment control, pronunciation tools, and multilingual synthesis matter most; choose another option if you need a straightforward hosted service with standard commercial terms.
