Our verdict on iLearn
For students comparing online undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate and MOOC programmes from Indian universities, iLearn serves as a programme directory and application portal. It is part of India’s e-VidyaBharati and e-ArogyaBharati Network Project, run by the Ministry of External Affairs. Learners can search listings and browse by university, degree type or category. The portal is aimed in part at eligible students from partner African countries, so programme eligibility matters when deciding whether a listing is a fit.
Scholarships are central to the offer: eligible programmes may have tuition covered by Government of India scholarships, and learners can apply through iLearn. The portal says learners are not mandated to pay fees, while some short-term certificate courses carry examination fees. Eligible learners may apply for an exemption from those fees, subject to scholarship approval. Certificates depend on meeting the relevant course requirements. This structure suits people seeking a listed programme with financial support, but applicants should check the specific programme and scholarship conditions rather than assume every course or fee is covered.
The learning and discovery experience combines online course materials available at flexible times, moderated discussion forums and remote-proctored online examinations. iLearn is primarily a directory: learners apply through it, then may be redirected to the university’s portal for admission. That division means it is a useful starting point for comparing programme types and institutions, but less suitable for someone expecting one portal to handle every part of enrolment and study. It is web-based, with no mobile app offering. Students who want to compare Indian university programmes and explore scholarship eligibility should consider it; those seeking a mobile-first course marketplace should look elsewhere.
