Our verdict on ID.me Shopping
ID.me Shopping is a web-based shopping service for members who want to browse retailer discounts and earn cash back through participating stores. Shoppers can activate an offer on ID.me Shop before visiting a retailer, or use the Chrome desktop extension to surface offers while browsing. Community discounts are also available, with ID.me verification required for some offers. Its focus is rewards and discounts rather than broader price research, making it a fit for eligible shoppers who want to check offers as part of an online purchase.
The service is free to access, and its published materials describe cash-back offers and discounts rather than separate paid tiers. Cash back can be tracked in the My Cash account area, with eligible payments delivered through PayPal after the account meets the stated payout threshold. That arrangement suits shoppers who are comfortable using PayPal for payouts and checking the terms of an offer before shopping. It is not a price-comparison service: shoppers looking to compare prices across retailers or set price alerts will need a different tool.
The main platform choices are the website and a Chrome extension for desktop browsing. The extension can surface discounts and cash-back offers in the shopping flow, while the website supports browsing participating stores and activating cash back before heading to a retailer. Community offers add a separate route to savings, but verification may be required. ID.me Shopping is most relevant to eligible shoppers who want browser-based cashback and retailer discounts; shoppers prioritizing price tracking, alerts, in-store offers, or non-Chrome extension support should look elsewhere.
