HyCanvas is a browser-based visual design platform for teams creating graphics, presentations, videos, whiteboards, documents and spreadsheets. Its canvas editor supports shapes, lines, charts, QR codes, text and image effects, while templates, brand kits and workspace collections help organize recurring work. Presentation mode includes transitions, animations and presenter tools. The product fits teams that want one workspace for visual communication, especially those that value self-hosting and control over their data.
Its feature breadth is the main reason to consider it. Teams can import SVG and PDF files, edit images, remove backgrounds and use export tools alongside templates and shared brand controls. Collaboration includes presence cursors, locks, comments and approvals. AI features cover design assistance, Magic Design, image generation, restyling and chart generation, with support for OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek and custom AI endpoints using user-supplied keys. Media and research-oriented connections include YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, Figma and Google Maps.
The plan structure gives teams two distinct deployment paths. Cloud access is browser-based and includes every feature, while paid plans add capacity, backups and support. The self-hosted plan is free forever and runs on your own server with PostgreSQL and local or S3 storage; it also supports full data ownership and bring-your-own AI keys and storage. Deployment uses a single binary, but it still suits organizations prepared to manage infrastructure. Choose HyCanvas for broad collaborative design with self-hosting; teams seeking a narrowly focused design tool or a fully managed cloud arrangement should compare alternatives.
