HeyTaco is employee recognition software for teams working in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Employees give colleagues virtual tacos with appreciation messages, while administrators can configure daily taco limits, values-based Taco Tags, leaderboards, Taco TV, custom rewards, and recognition analytics. It is aimed at startups, mid-sized companies, remote teams, and organizations that want recognition embedded in workplace chat rather than managed through a broader standalone program.
Pricing is organized into two monthly plans. Classic costs $3 per user per month and includes peer-to-peer recognition, custom daily taco limits, unlimited teams, channels, and spaces, customizable leaderboards and Taco TV, custom rewards, and gamification. Deluxe costs $5 per user per month and adds automated birthday and work-anniversary celebrations, instant gift cards, more than 2,000 gift-card options in more than 200 countries, and advanced analytics and insights. Both plans support the core taco-based recognition model, while the product also provides API and leaderboard API options. A 30-day trial is available.
The main fit is chat-first recognition: Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations keep appreciation close to everyday team communication, and the combination of values tags, rewards, celebrations, and reporting gives administrators several ways to structure participation. HeyTaco is less suitable for organizations needing formal manager awards, nomination workflows, budget management, or broader recognition-program depth. Choose it when lightweight peer recognition and rewards are the priority; consider a wider employee recognition suite when governance and program variety matter more than chat integration.
