Hestia review
A free Windows manager for organizing, downloading, and updating GameBanana mods.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Hestia is a free, open-source mod manager for Windows users working with supported XXMI and Unreal Engine games. It combines GameBanana browsing with local library management, letting users download mods in-app or bring in files, folders, archives, and drag-and-drop content. Supported games include Wuthering Waves, Arknights: Endfield, Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Neverness to Everness. It is distributed as either an installer or a portable Windows application.
The standout strength is the depth of its local organization. Users can enable, disable, archive, restore, rename, and remove mods; create, reorder, sort, and assign categories; and search, sort, filter, and group libraries. Hestia also adds personal notes, images, and metadata, detects supported game and mod paths automatically, and translates mod titles, descriptions, and metadata in-app. Its task panel provides progress tracking, retry, resume, and cancellation, while eligible mod updates can be checked and installed automatically.
Hestia’s open-source model makes the manager free to use, with GameBanana serving as its built-in mod source through the API. That combination suits solo users and small groups who want detailed control over a Windows-based library without assembling separate download and organization tools. The focus is narrower for people outside the supported game types, and Windows is currently the only officially supported platform; Linux and macOS compatibility is not guaranteed. Users needing another operating system, broader game coverage, or support beyond community channels should choose a different manager.
