HATSUNE MIKU NT review
A focused Japanese vocal-production tool with deep editing and restricted commercial use.

HATSUNE MIKU NT is desktop singing voice synthesis software for producers creating Japanese vocal tracks with Hatsune Miku libraries. The package includes Piapro Studio NT2, where users enter melody and lyrics and refine pitch, vibrato, dynamics, consonant timing, breathiness, and voice color. It runs on Windows and macOS, either as standalone software or through VST3 and Audio Units, making it suitable for desktop music-production workflows.
Its main strength is the depth of vocal editing. Automatic Control provides configurable singing-style, nuance, and vibrato settings, while graphical pitch-curve and waveform editing support detailed shaping. A pencil tool enables direct pitch editing, and controls for consonant rate, attack speed, note gain, and breathiness add further expression. Voice Drive, Voice Voltage, and Super Formant Shifter effects extend the sound-design options. Cubase LE, virtual instruments, sound materials, and plug-in effects are also included, although Cubase LE is the named integration.
The HATSUNE MIKU NT Download Version costs ¥19,800 as a one-time purchase and includes a 39-day trial. That purchase adds the Piapro Studio NT2 editor, the Original++, Dark++, and Whisper++ libraries, and bundled music-production software. The focused library scope is a good fit for Japanese vocal production centered on these voices, but it is less suitable for projects requiring voices in other languages. Commercial publication of user works requires contacting Crypton beforehand and may require an additional license and fee, so buyers planning commercial releases should review that process before choosing it.
