Hartigan RTI Pro is a Windows desktop application for importing, validating and submitting previously calculated payroll information to HMRC. It is designed for UK employers and organisations that already use payroll software for calculations but need a dedicated tool for RTI submissions. Its scope includes Full Payment Submissions, Employer Payment Summaries, Earlier Year Updates, Employer Alignment Submissions and National Insurance number verification requests. It is not positioned as a payroll calculation system; the vendor distinguishes it from RTI Payroll Standard, which calculates payroll data.
The published annual plans are priced by employee count and license. RTI Pro — 1–10 employees costs £230 per license per year, while 11–20 employees costs £360. The 21–50 employee plan is £600, followed by £730 for 51–100 employees and £860 for 101–300 employees. Larger tiers cost £960 for 301–500 employees, £1,090 for 501–800 employees and £1,210 for 801–1,000 employees. Each plan is described as RTI file submission software, so the main distinction shown is the employee range rather than a different feature set.
Its ecosystem fit is centred on existing payroll workflows. RTI Pro can import HMRC RTI standard XML files and Microsoft Excel data, accept information from existing payroll software, submit through the HMRC Government Gateway from the user's PC, generate BACS random strings and output, and support NEST pension submissions. That focused approach suits employers wanting desktop control over RTI filing. Organisations seeking payroll calculation, a non-Windows platform or verified tax-payment support should consider a broader payroll product instead.
