GPU Overlay review
A free Windows overlay for FPS, GPU, VRAM, clock and temperature telemetry.

GPU Overlay is a free Windows system-tray utility for players who want in-game FPS and GPU telemetry. It injects an overlay into DirectX 11 game frames and presents FPS, GPU usage, VRAM usage, GPU clock and GPU temperature in one view. Windows 10 or 11, compatible GPU drivers and a build matching the game's architecture are required, making it most suitable for solo users and small teams focused on desktop monitoring.
Telemetry coverage is a central strength. GPU Overlay includes providers for AMD, NVIDIA and Intel hardware, with a DXGI fallback, so the overlay can gather metrics across those GPU ecosystems. Users can choose which metrics appear and adjust the overlay's position, scale and colors. Toggle and position-cycle hotkeys support quick control during play, while rotating diagnostic logs record injection and telemetry events for troubleshooting.
The main trade-off is scope: injection targets DirectX 11 frames, while DirectX 12 and Vulkan are unsupported. Setup also depends on compatible drivers and an architecture-matched build, so users may need to follow build and configuration steps before launching a game. Choose GPU Overlay if Windows and DirectX 11 fit your library and you want detailed GPU readings without a paid tier. Users whose games rely on DirectX 12 or Vulkan should choose a counter designed for those APIs instead.
