GOG Galaxy is a free, optional desktop application for installing, updating, and launching GOG games. It also brings games and friends from connected PC and console platforms into one interface, making it a fit for players who want a combined library without treating the launcher as a game store subscription. The client is available for Windows and macOS. Its DRM-free orientation and offline support will appeal to players who prefer access to supported games without an active connection, while those features do not extend to every title or online function.

Library aggregation is a central strength: Galaxy can connect with services including Steam, Xbox Game Pass, Uplay Plus, and Origin Access, alongside community-created integrations. It also offers a friends list, chat, multiplayer-related functionality, achievements, statistics, and game-time tracking. Connected services help unify access and visibility, but Galaxy itself is not presented as a subscription catalog; players still rely on the connected service for its games. This makes the launcher more suitable for organizing existing libraries than replacing their individual platforms.

For GOG games, the feature set includes cloud-save synchronization for supported titles, automatic updates, rollback to earlier versions, and integrated one-click mod experiences. Cloud saves and other online features require connectivity, and offline operation is limited to supported games. The free price and lack of a required subscription make it straightforward to consider, but the value depends on which connected integrations and game-specific features matter to you. Choose Galaxy if library consolidation, offline play for supported titles, or rollback are priorities; look elsewhere if you want a launcher that supplies its own subscription game catalog.
