GladeCore review
A local-first SDK for expressive, lore-aware game characters on Windows and macOS.

GladeCore is an on-device C/C++ SDK for building conversational game characters. It is aimed at game developers creating NPCs with local dialogue, voice output, speech recognition, personality controls, world lore, actions, and lip-sync data. Support for Unreal Engine and Godot makes it relevant to teams working in those engines, while Windows and macOS are the supported desktop platforms. The product is paid and is designed for offline operation without per-interaction fees or default transmission of gameplay data.
Its standout capability is the combination of local AI and character direction. GladeCore supports on-device LLM inference with GGUF models, local Piper and Kokoro text-to-speech, Whisper speech-to-text, 10 emotions, custom pronunciation dictionaries, and optional ElevenLabs integration. Characters can use lore and retrieval-augmented generation with citations, then trigger agentic actions and tool calls. Lip-sync and viseme output extend the system beyond dialogue generation into in-game presentation. SSML controls are also included for voice shaping.
The plan structure separates core local functionality from development and organizational features. Basic includes on-device inference, local Piper and Kokoro voices, speech-to-text, and unlimited interactions. Pro adds advanced SDK features, retrieval-augmented generation, grammar presets, and custom model training. Enterprise adds enterprise support, proxy server integration, and a dedicated account manager. Integrations include OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, OpenRouter, Ollama, ElevenLabs, Piper, and Kokoro. Choose GladeCore if local character agents and engine-level voice output are priorities; choose an alternative if your team needs platforms beyond Windows and macOS.
