GigaChat is Sber’s Russian-language AI chatbot for people who want to ask questions, converse, write or edit text, generate code and images, and work with uploaded documents or images. It is available on the web and in iOS and Android apps, as well as through Telegram, VK and MAX. Its focus makes it a fit for Russian-speaking individuals; businesses can use the API to connect GigaChat with applications and services.
For everyday chat, GigaChat’s breadth includes web research with source links, image understanding, prompt-based image generation, and analysis of DOCX, PDF and TXT files. Conversation history and saved chats support returning to prior exchanges. That combination goes beyond text-only question answering, but the published feature set is centered on Russian-language multimodal interaction. Choose it if those capabilities match your work; consider another assistant if your priority is a broader set of documented features beyond this focus.
The consumer service is described as free, while the published API plans are token packages rather than a consumer subscription. Freemium API includes 365 million free text-generation tokens and access to Lite, Pro, Max and Ultra models. The GigaChat 2 Lite package has 20 million text-generation tokens; GigaChat 2 Pro and GigaChat 2 Max each have 3 million text-generation tokens. The Embeddings package includes 50 million embedding tokens. API connections are available for business applications and services, with Telegram, VK and MAX also listed as integrations. Access requires a Russian IP address and Sber ID, so GigaChat is a less suitable choice for people who cannot meet those requirements or need integrations outside its stated routes.
