GetPaidHQ review
Flexible billing controls and payment routing for teams building their own billing infrastructure.

GetPaidHQ is an open-source subscription billing platform for teams that want to run billing on their own infrastructure. It suits developers building payment infrastructure who need control over pricing models, subscription changes, usage measurement, invoices, and payment processing. Self-hosting is available under the MIT license, with full source access and community support. The product also describes a managed Cloud offering, aimed at teams that prefer hosting and updates handled by GetPaidHQ.
Its billing scope is broad: pricing can be fixed, usage-based, tiered, or hybrid, while lifecycle controls cover pausing, resuming, cancelling, and changing billing anchors. Proration controls apply to billing-anchor and plan changes. Usage meters, usage events, aggregation, and metered prices support usage billing; dunning campaigns provide configurable retries and payment-update links. Invoices include line items and PDF generation. Payment orchestration can route by region, customer, or failover. These controls make GetPaidHQ more suitable for teams building a configurable billing layer than for businesses seeking a ready-made customer-facing subscription experience.
The API-oriented approach includes REST APIs, webhooks, typed SDKs, and idempotency keys. Payment gateways are supported through adapters, with Checkout.com and Paystack named, as well as custom payment-processor adapters. The main trade-off is customer access: customer portal sessions are not currently exposed through the public customer API, so teams needing a built-in self-service portal should consider another option or plan to provide that experience separately. Self-hosted users receive community support; Cloud is described as including managed hosting, scaling and updates, priority support and SLA, onboarding assistance, and custom adapter development on request. The Cloud offering is coming soon, so teams choosing it should account for that timing.
