Generous is an online donation and fundraising platform for charities and not-for-profit organisations. It combines branded donation forms, recurring giving, campaign management, donor administration, reporting, tax receipts, text-to-give fundraising, and payment processing in one web-based service. Donors can pay by credit card, debit card, direct debit, or PayPal. It is particularly well suited to small teams that want core donation tools without starting on a paid plan, while organisations with more complex finance or CRM requirements should examine the higher tiers carefully.
The free offering is notable for including branded forms, recurring donations, campaigns, donor management, reports, and receipts. The paid structure is based largely on transaction fees: Startup lists a 3% platform fee, plus 2% built-in credit-card processing and 1% direct debit; Growth lowers the platform fee to 2% and offers either 2% built-in processing or 1% through a payment-gateway integration, with direct debit at 0.75%. Enterprise lists a 1% platform fee, 2% built-in processing or 0.5% through a gateway integration, and includes finance and CRM integrations. An Organisation package is also described as an all-in-one option with financial and CRM integrations and very low transaction fees. Prices are shown in AUD and exclude GST.
Integration coverage supports common nonprofit workflows, with Salesforce, eTapestry, and Xero alongside Stripe, eWay, and PayWay. Donor payment details and recurring schedules can be managed, data can be exported, and payment gateways can be connected as organisations scale. The main buying consideration is the fee model: costs vary by plan, payment method, and processing route. The pricing presentation also uses both Enterprise and Organisation for the upper end of the offering, so buyers should clarify which package applies to their needs. Generous is a sensible fit for small nonprofits seeking a broad free foundation; teams prioritising highly specialised enterprise functionality may prefer an alternative.
