Our verdict on Galicaster-PRO

Galicaster-PRO is lecture and conference recording software from Teltek for educational and event environments. It creates a multi-stream recording unit on recommended hardware, supporting synchronous presenter and presentation capture, live streaming, touch-oriented controls, and standalone operation. Its web platform supports monitoring and media management, while deployment remains on-premise. This makes it a practical fit for campuses that want direct control over capture infrastructure and need to record more than one feed at a time.

The product’s strongest area is capture and operational control. Dual-stream recording keeps the presenter and presentation feeds synchronized, while live streaming can deliver both feeds. Web-based real-time audio/video monitoring, remote monitoring through VNC, profile management, and a touch-oriented recording interface support day-to-day room operation. Slide-change detection and QR-code recognition add automation around presentation content. Repository management includes metadata editing and downloads, and the REST interface plugin provides an integration point for additional workflows.

Galicaster-PRO also fits environments built around established education platforms. It supports Opencast Matterhorn scheduling and automatic ingestion, and integrates with Moodle, PuMuKIT, YouTube, and iTunesU. According to the vendor’s pricing approach, prospective buyers contact Teltek for pricing; the software is available within Galicaster recording units or, under certain conditions, as a software license. Choose it when on-premise deployment, dual-stream capture, monitoring, and Opencast compatibility are central requirements. Teams seeking cloud deployment, self-serve purchasing, or caption and search workflows should compare alternatives.
