Our verdict on freenet Mail

freenet Mail is a personal email service from freenet.de GmbH, with free and paid mailboxes, integrated cloud storage, a calendar, and an online address book. It suits people who want email plus a few everyday tools in one service, accessible through the web or official Android and iOS apps. The product also includes spam and virus protection, SSL-encrypted data transfer, aliases, and the ability to integrate external mailboxes.

Storage is the clearest distinction between plans. freeMail includes 1 GB of email storage and 2 GB of cloud storage. proMail raises those allowances to 7 GB and 50 GB, while premiumMail provides 12 GB and 100 GB; both paid plans include an ad-free inbox. The product details also describe larger attachment limits on paid plans, though they do not specify those limits by tier. This structure makes the free tier a straightforward starting point, while the paid options are more relevant if storage or an ad-free inbox matters. The published plan highlights do not give prices, so compare current terms before choosing between paid tiers.

Its platform fit is practical rather than expansive: mail is available on web, Android, and iOS, and external mailbox integration is listed for Gmail, GMX, and WEB.DE. The calendar and address book add utility beyond the inbox, but custom-domain email belongs to the separate freenet Domain service, not these standard personal Mail plans. Choose freenet Mail if you want a personal mailbox with cloud space and basic organization tools; look elsewhere if a custom domain is central to your email setup or you need more than the stated storage allowances.
