FrankWeather is a free weather app for people who want local conditions and forecasts alongside detailed radar and severe-weather monitoring. It runs on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and weather browsing does not require an account. Its emphasis is on severe-weather tools rather than broad everyday forecast coverage, making it a better fit for monitoring storms than for shoppers seeking a simple forecast-first app.

Radar is the central draw: maps include a high-resolution mosaic and radar time machine, while NEXRAD site views offer reflectivity, velocity and dual-polarization products. Other layers cover satellite imagery, lightning, tropical systems and SPC outlooks. Storm-cell tracking provides arrival-time estimates, and saved places can receive NWS watches, warnings and advisories alongside severe-weather notifications and a take-cover alarm. Hourly and 10-day forecasts include model-confidence comparison; air-quality information and river gauges extend the monitoring beyond storms.

According to the published plan, Everything, free costs $0 one-time and includes all features, with no license key or subscription. Optional donations do not unlock additional features. The vendor says the app has no ads. This keeps the feature set available without a paid tier, but the focus may feel excessive for someone who only wants a basic daily forecast. FrankWeather is not an official emergency-alert source, and the vendor advises keeping other emergency alerts enabled. Mobile background alerts may vary between release versions. Choose it for cross-device radar and severe-weather monitoring; consider another app if severe weather is not a priority or if you need an official alert source.
