Forecast5 brings budgeting and financial forecasting together in a Windows desktop application for businesses and finance teams. Its focus is useful for teams that need linked profit and loss, balance sheet, cashflow and funds flow reports, while forecasting across multiple entities or divisions. Rolling forecasts combine actual results to date with projections, and users can compare actuals against budgets, build what-if scenarios and create daily cashflow projections with a rolling 90-day bank position. Multi-currency forecasting and intercompany eliminations extend its fit for consolidated planning.

The UK packages scale by users, forecasts, consolidations and integrations. Base Package costs £900 per year for one user and 25 forecasts, and includes online training and support. Advanced Package is £1,350 per year for one named user, 50 forecasts, 25 consolidations and one integration, with server capability and online training. All In Package costs £1,750 per year for two named users, 100 forecasts, 50 consolidations and two integrations, plus report views and server capability. Ultimate Package is £2,400 per year for three named users, 200 forecasts, 75 consolidations, network capability, all integrations and report views. A 21-day free trial is available. The NZ/AUS packages list similar capacity tiers, but their prices are not shown here.

Integration options include Xero, SAP Business One, Sage 50 Accounts, Sage 200, Sage 300, MYOB AccountRight, MYOB Advanced and MYOB Exo. Accounting data integration imports actuals and charts of accounts; custom reports can be generated and exported. The trade-off is deployment: Forecast5 is desktop-based, Windows-only, and actuals refresh is manual. That makes it a more natural fit for teams prioritizing structured multi-entity forecasting over cloud access or automated data refresh. Smaller teams may also find the per-year pricing and user limits restrictive as their needs grow; organizations seeking cloud-based collaboration should consider another product.

Forecast5 pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Builds integrated P&L, balance sheet, cashflow and funds flow forecasts
    • Combines actuals with projections and supports budget variance reporting
    • Consolidates entities with intercompany eliminations and multi-currency forecasts
  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows desktop installation only; no cloud-based deployment
    • GBP plans start at £900 per year, with higher tiers for more capacity
    • Actuals refresh is manual, rather than automated
