Our verdict on FocusRetro

FocusRetro is an online retrospective workspace for agile, remote, and hybrid teams. It supports sprint retrospectives, incident post-mortems, health checks, workshops, and project debriefs through reusable templates, private writing, anonymous cards, blind voting, timed phases, topic grouping, and action tracking. Participants can join with invite links without creating accounts, making it suitable for teams that need both live facilitation and asynchronous participation. It runs on the web and connects with Jira and Slack.

The pricing structure is straightforward at the entry level. The Starter plan is free forever and includes core retrospective templates, voting and reactions, phase timers, and action items. Team costs $12 per month when billed annually or $15 per month when billed monthly. It adds one shared workspace, unlimited boards, unlimited workspace members, private and restricted boards, and board passwords. Business includes everything in Team, plus five workspaces and admin controls. The Team price is a flat workspace price rather than a per-user price, which can suit groups that want to add members without changing the listed plan cost. A 14-day free trial is also available.

FocusRetro’s strongest fit is structured facilitation: locked phases, timers, moderation controls, grouping, and anonymous participation give facilitators control without removing input from quieter or remote participants. Action items with owners, due dates, and status extend the workflow beyond discussion. The product is less suitable for organizations that require SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certifications, since FocusRetro does not hold those certifications. Teams seeking a web-based tool with guest access, async support, and practical follow-through should consider it; teams prioritizing broader platform coverage or specific compliance attestations should look elsewhere.
