FModel review
Free, open-source Windows tooling for inspecting and extracting Unreal archives.

FModel is a free, open-source Windows desktop application for exploring Unreal Engine game archives. It is aimed at modders and technical users who need to browse folders and packages, inspect archive contents, extract files, or examine game assets without a paid license. The portable x64 executable can also be built from source, giving users two ways to access the tool.
Its main strength is the breadth of its Unreal-focused inspection workflow. FModel parses UE4 and UE5 archive formats, including .pak, .utoc, and .ucas files, and can load encrypted archives when the required AES key is available. Package properties can be viewed in JSON, INI, XML, and TXT views. The application also covers asset review: users can preview images and textures, play supported game audio, and inspect meshes, materials, animations, and levels in a 3D viewer. Supported assets can be exported as models, animations, textures, audio, and world data.
FModel is a strong choice for Windows users focused specifically on Unreal archive inspection, asset extraction, and visual review. Its free and open-source distribution suits users who want a focused tool rather than a paid modding suite. The main boundaries are platform and format-specific: it is available for Windows, encrypted archive access depends on having the required AES key, and Blueprint decompilation applies only to supported Unreal Engine blueprints. Users working outside Windows, with other game engines, or with unsupported Unreal assets should choose a tool designed for those requirements instead.
