Fling UI review
A controller-first Linux trainer library with Steam discovery and Proton support.

Fling UI is an open-source game-trainer manager for Linux users who play Steam and Proton games. Its fullscreen, controller-first interface is designed for Steam Gaming Mode, Steam Deck, Bazzite, ROG Ally, Xbox Ally, and regular Linux desktops. The product combines a Godot 4 .NET graphical interface with a Bash and Rust command-line backend, giving users both an on-screen library and a JSON command-line API. It installs under the current user's home directory without root access and is intended for single-player use.
Its strongest fit is the Linux gaming-mode workflow. Fling UI can scan Steam libraries, discover games, download trainers, validate them, and handle trainer installation, removal, and refresh operations. Proton injection and trainer execution connect that library workflow to supported Steam games, while integrations with Steam, Proton, Steam Gaming Mode, and REFramework extend its usefulness across the stated environment. SHA-256 metadata and archive verification add a defined integrity check to trainer downloads, and systemd user-service integration supports operation within a user-level Linux setup.
The trade-off is a narrow platform and use-case focus. Linux is the only listed platform, and the product is centered on Steam and Proton rather than a broad multi-platform trainer catalog. Its single-player orientation also makes it unsuitable for buyers seeking multiplayer support. Users who want a controller-friendly trainer manager for Steam Gaming Mode or Bazzite should find the feature set closely aligned with that workflow. Buyers who need Windows or macOS support, wider platform coverage, or a trainer tool aimed beyond single-player games should choose another category fit.
