Our verdict on Flekki
Flekki is a browser-based, open-source tool for creating responsive HTML email templates. It is suited to individuals and small teams that want a visual editor without a subscription, account, or credit card. The drag-and-drop editor includes text, image, button, divider, and column elements, while pre-built templates and responsive layouts provide a starting point for email design. Completed designs can be exported as HTML for use with email platforms, and reusable content segments support repeatable layouts.
The published Free plan costs $0 USD per month when billed monthly and includes the drag-and-drop email editor, responsive email templates, HTML export, reusable content segments, and no-account access. Designs can be saved locally in the browser, which supports a lightweight workflow for users who prefer not to create an account. Flekki also supports self-hosting, giving technically capable teams another way to run the tool within their own environment. The current positioning describes the product as free forever, while noting that optional premium features may be introduced in the future.
Flekki’s main strength is its narrow focus: it covers visual email composition, reusable content, responsive layouts, and export without adding a subscription tier or account requirement. That makes it a practical choice for users who already have a separate email-sending platform and need a dedicated design step. It is less suitable for teams seeking an integrated email marketing workspace, native platform connections, or AI-assisted creation. Choose Flekki for free, local, or self-hosted HTML email design; choose another product when campaign management, integrations, or broader automation are central requirements.
