Five is an AI-powered, low-code development environment for building and deploying bespoke business web applications. It is aimed at developers, technical business users, solo developers, development teams, and organizations creating internal tools, portals, dashboards, reports, and other data-driven applications. The platform combines visual database and interface builders with JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, authentication, workflows, API connections, and cloud deployment. Apps can use Five's built-in MySQL database or connect to external databases and REST APIs.
Pricing is organized by app and developer capacity. The Free Trial is full-featured, but AI tokens are not included and it is not a perpetual free plan. Deploy Your App costs US$27.49 per app per month with annual billing and includes cloud-hosted development, 10 end-users, and 3 GB of storage per app. Basic costs US$29.99 per app per month monthly and adds a built-in MySQL database, one developer, one deployed environment, and the visual database builder. Team costs US$99.99 monthly for two developers, two deployed environments, and collaborative development. Business costs US$279.99 monthly for three developers, two deployed environments, and higher compute and storage. Enterprise includes custom infrastructure, enterprise support, and disaster recovery.
Five's strongest fit is structured web software that benefits from database design, business logic, scheduled jobs, events, notifications, email automation, and reporting in one environment. It supports MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite, REST APIs, and OData, while authentication includes roles, permissions, and two-factor authentication. Support channels include email, community, and documentation, with cloud deployment available. The trade-off is focus: Five is web-only and does not publish mobile apps. Choose it for SQL-centered internal tools and portals; consider an alternative if mobile publishing is a core requirement or if you need a perpetual free plan.
