FireStart review
A broad BPMN automation platform with strong invoice controls, but a high entry price.

FireStart is a BPMN 2.0 business process management and workflow automation platform for organizations that need structured invoice approval alongside wider business processes. Its invoice workflow covers capture, OCR and AI data extraction, rule-based routing, three-way matching against purchase orders and goods receipts, approval, audit logging and ERP handoff. The product is aimed at finance, procurement, operations and compliance teams, particularly in mid-sized companies in the DACH region and larger organizations with formal process requirements.
Pricing is organized as monthly flat-fee packages rather than per-user plans. Process Modeling costs €390 per month and includes BPMN 2.0 modeling, collaborative teamwork, a versioned process library, approvals and publishing, and a process portal. Process Automation costs €830 per month and adds workflow automation, no-code forms, human-in-the-loop approvals, escalations, deadlines, deputies, system integrations and AI workflows. Enterprise adds cloud, on-premise or hybrid deployment, custom integrations, governance and compliance consulting, and premium support with a dedicated contact. Process Cost Audit is a €2,900 one-time service covering process prioritization, savings-potential analysis, an implementation roadmap and a management report.
The main strength is breadth: FireStart combines conditional routing, delegated approvals, low-code process changes, audit trails, permission management and ERP connections for systems such as SAP, DATEV and Microsoft Dynamics. Microsoft Teams, Outlook and SharePoint integrations, plus REST APIs and webhooks, support a wider business-system environment. Cloud hosting in the EU, on-premise deployment and hybrid operation suit organizations with varied deployment requirements. Teams seeking a focused invoice-approval tool with a lower starting commitment may find the broader BPM scope and €390 monthly entry point difficult to justify; FireStart fits better when invoice automation is part of a larger process-management program.
