FastFund Accounting is cloud-based nonprofit accounting software from Araize, aimed at organizations that need fund-based financial management, especially established nonprofits managing grants and restricted funds. It separates fund balances and financial statements, tracks grant, program, and project activity, and supports FASB-compliant nonprofit statements. Its reporting spans funds, programs, grants, departments, and projects, while functional expense classification distinguishes programs, management, and fundraising. The web product can also be part of Araize’s broader FastFund platform, which includes payroll and fundraising modules.

Grant management is a central strength rather than an add-on: organizations can track grant revenue, expenses, budgets, reimbursements, and reporting, and budget by grant, department, program, or fund. Recurring and reversing journal entries, custom financial statements, and budget reports add flexibility to routine accounting and oversight. Bank integration and reconciliation are included, with Plaid named as the integration. A user and IP-based audit trail records entered, edited, and deleted data, which supports review of changes. Nonprofits seeking grant-level visibility and fund reporting may find this breadth a closer fit than a general accounting tool.

The monthly plans make the accounting trade-off clear. Standard costs $50 per month and includes cash-based accounting, fund accounting, budgeting, project tracking, FASB-compliant statements, and bank integration. Premium costs $110 per month and adds accrual-based accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and direct cost allocations on top of Standard. There is no free plan; the official site advertises a free trial, without a stated duration. Organizations needing accrual accounting or those additional transaction workflows should budget for Premium. Smaller nonprofits wanting only simple bookkeeping may find the grant and fund capabilities more than they need; those needing them can choose between cash-basis coverage and Premium’s accrual features.

FastFund Accounting pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Tracks restricted, unrestricted, grant, program, and project activity
    • Budgets and reports across grants, departments, programs, and funds
    • Maintains user and IP-based audit trails for data changes
  • Where it doesn't
    • Standard uses cash-based accounting; accrual accounting requires Premium
    • Accounts payable, receivable, and direct cost allocations require Premium
    • Bank integration is listed for Plaid only
