FastDeploy review
A self-hosted toolkit for advanced, accelerator-focused LLM and VLM serving.

FastDeploy is an Apache-2.0, open-source toolkit for deploying large language and visual-language models built on PaddlePaddle. It is aimed at teams running self-hosted inference on Linux servers with NVIDIA GPUs or other accelerator hardware. The toolkit exposes an OpenAI-compatible API server, supports vLLM interface compatibility, and targets small, mid-market, and enterprise deployments that need control over serving infrastructure.
Its strongest case is advanced serving control. FastDeploy supports load-balanced prefill/decode disaggregation and unified KV-cache transmission, with NVLink or RDMA selection for transport. Speculative decoding, multi-token prediction, chunked prefill, and prefix caching address different latency and throughput requirements. Quantization includes INT4, INT8, FP8, and 2-bit modes, while multi-hardware accelerator support gives infrastructure teams more deployment options. These capabilities make it a fit for workloads where accelerator utilization and serving behavior matter as much as basic API access.
The ecosystem fit is focused rather than broad: deployment targets are self-hosted servers, model formats include Paddle and Torch, and current documentation also references selected models from the Hugging Face ecosystem. Teams should expect to manage their own Linux accelerator environment and use the published documentation as the listed support path. FastDeploy is a strong choice for organizations building controlled LLM or VLM serving stacks around accelerator hardware. It is less suitable for CPU-only deployments, edge or mobile inference, or teams seeking a managed service with broader operational support.
FastDeploy pros and cons
- Where it wins
- OpenAI-compatible API server with vLLM interface compatibility
- Prefill/decode disaggregation with selectable NVLink or RDMA KV transport
- Speculative decoding, prefix caching, and broad quantization options
- Where it doesn't
- Current documentation centers on Linux accelerator/server deployments
- Model coverage centers on Paddle formats and selected Hugging Face models
- Support is provided through documentation rather than listed service channels
