Fastcase is an online legal research platform for lawyers, law firms, educators, corporations, and bar associations. Its searchable collection covers federal and state case law, statutes, regulations, constitutions, court rules, secondary legal commentary, and treatises across the United States, including federal courts, all 50 states, and the District of Columbia. Researchers can use natural-language, Boolean, keyword, or citation searches, then work with citation analysis, related-case discovery, timelines, alerts, printing, and public document links. Web, iOS, Android, and Windows access support individual and distributed legal teams.

Pricing is straightforward at the lower tiers. The Appellate plan costs $65 per user per month with monthly billing and includes federal and 50-state appellate case law, nationwide statutes and regulations, and no-contract monthly pricing. Premium costs $95 per user per month and adds federal district court and federal bankruptcy court coverage while including everything in Appellate. Enterprise is designed for law firms, associations, law schools, corporations, and other large organizations. The free plan and one-day free trial create a low-commitment path for initial research, while integrations with Clio, LexBlog, Courtroom Insight, TransUnion TLOxp, and JurisPro support broader workflow connections.

Fastcase’s strongest fit is for practitioners who need wide U.S. coverage, citation tools, legal commentary, and alerts without starting with enterprise-database pricing. Authority Check, Forecite, and Interactive Timeline give the research experience useful ways to evaluate and discover authority beyond basic keyword searching. The tradeoff is scope: it is less comprehensive than leading enterprise databases, and docket research sits in the related Docket Alarm product rather than the core research description. Firms seeking broad everyday research at a controlled monthly cost should consider Fastcase; organizations needing the deepest enterprise coverage may prefer an alternative.
