FAIR Wizard review
Build custom questionnaires and turn answers into plans and machine-actionable documents.

FAIR Wizard is a cloud-based application for creating research data management plans and related documents. Researchers complete project questionnaires based on knowledge models, while data stewards can prepare those models and document templates. It is aimed at research teams and institutions that need to shape planning around their own workflows, especially when they want plans generated in machine-actionable formats as well as familiar document formats.
Questionnaires can branch according to answers, and generated documents can be exported as PDF, Word, or RDF. Teams can create or customize knowledge models and templates, manage users, roles, groups, and imports, and connect CSV-based value integrations to knowledge models. An API is also available. Analytics cover project, user, and user-group data, while an audit log records user actions. These capabilities suit institutions seeking configurable planning workflows; teams looking only for a simple, fixed-form DMP tool may not need this level of model and administration control.
The Starter plan is free indefinitely and includes data management planning, project and DMP creation, and document and template storage. According to the vendor's pricing page, Professional starts at €400 per month and adds unlimited projects and DMPs, unlimited storage, Time Travel, Integration Hub, Analytics, and standard support. Enterprise starts at €650 per month and includes those unlimited items, Time Travel, a custom domain, Integration Hub, and Analytics. Paid-tier limits may vary by contract. Choose FAIR Wizard if custom questionnaires, document generation, and institutional administration are central; consider an alternative if those capabilities do not justify a paid plan.
