Our verdict on eSIM JP
For travelers visiting Japan who want a data-only connection, eSIM JP (branded PlanJapan on its website) offers fixed-data and unlimited plans. The fixed options provide 10, 20, or 50 GB, each valid for 30 days; the unlimited plan lets buyers select a duration from 1 to 30 days. Plans support iOS and Android, use NTT docomo 4G/5G access, and include hotspot sharing. This is a focused choice for solo travelers who want a larger allowance or want to avoid choosing a fixed data cap. It is not a general-purpose or multi-country plan: its coverage is Japan-only.
The plan range makes the data choice straightforward. Fixed allowances suit trips where a known bundle is preferable, while the unlimited option changes duration with the trip. The vendor says the unlimited plan has no daily limit or speed throttling. All options are paid, and the published starting price is 16.99 for the 10 GB plan; the unlimited plan’s price varies by selected duration. The vendor advertises a 5% discount code, but the displayed plan prices are before that discount. Buyers should compare the duration-specific unlimited price against a fixed bundle before choosing.
Setup is designed around an emailed eSIM QR code that buyers can install before travel, with service activating automatically on first connection in Japan. Hotspot and tethering support are useful when sharing the connection with another device. Support is offered through email and WhatsApp, but is not available 24/7. Choose eSIM JP if Japan is the destination and you value a sizeable fixed allowance or adjustable unlimited duration. Travelers needing coverage beyond Japan, or round-the-clock support, should consider an alternative that better fits those needs.
