Our verdict on Ente Photos
Ente Photos is a privacy-focused photo management service for individuals and families who want encrypted backup across devices. It supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, with automatic photo and video backups, albums, public links, collaborative albums, curated memories, and map-based browsing. End-to-end encryption, metadata preservation, and an open-source model make it a strong fit for people who want control over their photo library without limiting access to one platform.
The plan structure covers both casual and larger libraries. The Free plan includes end-to-end encryption, automatic backups, on-device AI, album sharing, public links, and curated memories. Starter adds 50 GB of storage, a family plan, human support, and 3 replicas. The 200 GB plan provides the same additions at a larger storage level, while Pro increases storage to 1,000 GB. Pro+ provides 2,000 GB, along with the family plan, human support, and 3 replicas. This gives families and individuals a clear path from free storage to larger encrypted libraries.
Its standout feature set combines privacy with practical discovery tools. Face recognition and natural-language search run on desktop and mobile apps through on-device machine learning, while metadata and EXIF information are preserved and viewable. Photos can be organized across multiple albums, shared through public links, or browsed by map location. RAW files are supported with limited support, so photographers with specialized RAW workflows may need an alternative or a separate archive. Ente Photos suits privacy-focused users who want broad platform coverage and family sharing; it is less suitable for web-only users who depend on machine-learning search or extensive RAW support.
