ELVES is an open-source macOS desktop application for coordinating AI coding agents in isolated Git worktrees. It is designed for developers who want separate workspaces for coding tasks, with Claude Code or OpenAI Codex launched inside each workspace. An embedded PTY terminal, project context editors, skills management, and task analysis support the workflow from task definition through code review.

Its strongest fit is a local, Git-centered process. ELVES can create isolated workspaces, then support branch review, merge, rebase, and squash actions before changes are retained or discarded. Persistent SQLite-backed memory keeps project and session context locally, while session history and replay provide a way to revisit agent work. MCP server management extends the setup around supported agent runtimes, and the usage insights dashboard adds visibility into activity. Developers working with Git, Claude Code, Codex, and MCP servers get a concentrated toolset rather than a general-purpose agent platform.

ELVES is free and does not require a cloud account, with projects, sessions, and memory stored locally. That makes it a natural choice for Mac developers who prefer desktop control and isolated coding-agent workspaces. The tradeoff is its narrow scope: it targets macOS and coding-agent tasks rather than broader agent-building, hosted collaboration, or multi-platform operations. Teams seeking a browser-based service or support beyond coding workflows should choose a different type of platform; individual Mac developers managing several local agent sessions are the clearest audience.
