Our verdict on Edraak
Edraak is a nonprofit MOOC platform initiated by the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development. It is designed primarily for Arabic-speaking learners seeking free online education in career readiness, technology, personal development, business, entrepreneurship, languages, and K-12 topics. Courses include video lectures, assignments, exams, discussion forums, and completion certificates for eligible courses. Specializations combine multiple courses, while teacher virtual classrooms extend the platform into school-focused learning.
The pricing model is straightforward: the Free plan provides access to online courses, completion certificates for eligible courses, and no learner charge. Learners can access Edraak through the web, iOS, and Android applications. The Android app also supports offline lecture downloads, which suits learners who need to study away from a continuous connection. The platform’s course-based structure keeps the offer focused on individual learning paths and multi-course specializations rather than a broader paid subscription model.
Edraak’s main strength is breadth within accessible Arabic-language learning. Its catalog connects practical career and technology topics with business, languages, personal development, and K-12 education, giving learners several routes to build knowledge in one service. Assessments, forums, and certificates add structure beyond video-only learning. It is a strong choice for Arabic-speaking learners who want free courses, mobile access, and specialization-style progression. Learners seeking a paid tier, a degree program, or a platform centered on a language other than Arabic should consider alternatives with those priorities.
