Our verdict on EditPad Pro
EditPad Pro is a downloadable Windows text editor for programmers, writers, and other users working with plain-text files. Its feature set covers everyday tabbed editing as well as more specialized tasks, including regular-expression search and replacement, configurable syntax coloring, spell checking, code folding, file navigation, and project organization. It is suited to people who want one desktop tool for editing many files, handling large documents, and working with text-based development or administration tasks.
For demanding editing workflows, EditPad Pro brings together keystroke macro recording and playback, rectangular or column-based selections, and large-file handling for files larger than 4 GB. Search and replace can operate across files, selections, and projects, which supports batch-oriented work without leaving the application. File comparison and merge tools add practical value when reviewing revisions. These capabilities make it a stronger fit for structured text work than a basic editor, particularly for users who regularly repeat edits or manage sizeable files.
The product also connects editing with external systems and tools through built-in FTP and SFTP support, plus the Tools menu for Perl, Python, PowerShell, and external command-line tools. The Single user license includes a downloadable Windows application, free technical support by email, and free minor updates and bug fixes. EditPad Pro is a good choice for Windows users who value deep text manipulation, remote file access, and configurable workflows. Users who need a cross-platform editor or only occasional, lightweight text editing should choose a simpler alternative.
