For players who browse, buy, install, and launch Electronic Arts games on Windows or macOS, the EA app provides a central library and game discovery through Game Hubs. It also connects friends lists and platform accounts, supports background downloads and automatic updates, and offers offline mode for supported installed games. Players can add EA games purchased outside the app, including physical copies, so it can serve as a home for more than purchases made directly in the client. Its focus remains EA games and connected services, making it most relevant to people already in that ecosystem rather than shoppers seeking a general-purpose launcher.

The free app is separate from EA Play, an optional membership. According to the published plans, EA Play costs $5.99 per month, while EA Play annual costs $39.99 per year. Both plans include unlimited access to a collection of EA games, trials of select new releases, monthly member rewards, and a 10% discount on EA digital purchases. EA notes that availability and title selection can vary by platform and country, so the subscription is better suited to players comfortable with a changing selection than anyone expecting a fixed catalog. The launcher itself remains downloadable without joining EA Play.

Platform connections broaden the fit: the listed integrations include Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox, and PlayStation. EA says some games purchased through Steam or Epic Games can be accessed through the app, and Ubisoft account linking supports eligible Ubisoft games purchased through the EA app. Advanced launch options and input launch commands offer additional control, but the offline feature is limited to supported installed games. Choose the EA app for an EA-centered library, external EA-game support, or EA Play membership; look elsewhere if you need a launcher centered on a broader non-EA catalog.
