Our verdict on drachtio

drachtio combines a high-performance C++ SIP application server with the Node.js drachtio-srf framework. It is designed for developers and service providers building custom SIP services, communications applications and carrier-facing call flows. Applications connect to the server to process SIP traffic, create and manage dialogs, handle UAC and UAS flows, proxy requests, issue redirects and apply configurable HTTP request handlers. JavaScript is the framework language, while deployment targets include Linux, APIs, self-hosted environments and cloud setups.

Its strongest fit is detailed SIP control. Multiple transports and endpoints cover UDP, TCP, TLS and secure WebSockets, while call-detail record events expose call attempts, starts and stops. Prometheus metrics provide an endpoint for monitoring, and Homer/HEP capture support adds visibility into SIP traffic. Integrations with Homer, fail2ban and Kubernetes extend its operational ecosystem. Docker images and source installation give teams two self-hosted paths, making drachtio suitable when architecture and routing behavior need to remain under application-team control.

The trade-off is scope: drachtio is a SIP application server ecosystem, not a packaged numbers-and-voice API covering broader telephony workflows.
