Our verdict on Downlodr
Downlodr is a Windows desktop application for downloading and organizing online videos. It is suited to users who want more control than a simple single-link downloader, particularly when managing playlists, channels, subtitles, thumbnails, and batches of simultaneous downloads. Built on yt-dlp, it supports YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, TikTok, Vimeo, and other mainstream video sites. Quality and format selection give users control over saved media, while custom locations and file naming help keep downloads structured.
Its strongest distinction is organization. Downloads can be arranged with tags and categories, and users can choose where files are stored and how they are named. Playlist support includes selecting individual playlist items, which is useful when a complete playlist is not needed. Subtitle downloads and thumbnail saving extend the basic downloading workflow, while multiple simultaneous downloads make larger queues more practical. Format conversion is available through plugins, so that capability is part of the wider extension model rather than the core download controls.
Downlodr is a sensible pick for Windows users who want an open-source downloader with mainstream site support and built-in organization features. It is less suitable for users who need a macOS application today, since the current packaged application is for Windows and macOS is listed as coming soon. It also favors a focused downloader workflow rather than a broader cross-platform media tool. Choose it for playlists, batches, subtitles, naming, and categorization; consider another option if platform coverage beyond Windows or a more self-contained conversion workflow is central to the decision.
