DotFix NiceProtect is a Windows application-protection tool for developers who need to make compiled software harder to analyze, reverse engineer and crack. It supports native applications built with Delphi, Free Pascal/Lazarus, C++ Builder and Visual Basic, and can protect EXE, DLL and OCX files. For game developers, it fits teams protecting Windows builds rather than teams seeking a complete game-specific DRM service.

Pricing is structured around developer or company use and 32-bit or 64-bit coverage. Developer Standard costs $149 as a one-time license with 1 year of updates and covers 32-bit Windows applications. Developer Professional costs $199 and adds 64-bit coverage. Company Standard costs $329 for company use and 32-bit protection, while Company Professional costs $379 for company use and 32-bit and 64-bit protection. Renewal plans range from $69 to $269 as one-time annual purchases and include 1 year of updates and technical support. All plans include GUI and console versions where specified for the initial licenses.

Its protection depth is the main reason to consider it: code virtualization uses a custom virtual machine, mutation applies to conditions and loops, and compiler data, RTTI and Visual Basic elements can be obfuscated. Application and resource packing, anti-debugging and anti-trace protection, MAP-file function selection, a built-in disassembler, protection logs and IEEE Taggant certificate support add control around the protected build. The trade-off is a Windows-centered workflow and a narrow protector focus. Choose NiceProtect when native Windows hardening and fixed-price licensing matter; choose another category option when you need a broader DRM service or a game distribution and licensing layer.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows-focused rather than a broad multi-platform DRM service
    • 32-bit and 64-bit coverage is split across plan tiers
    • No free plan; licenses cover one year of updates
