DeviceShelf scans local Wi-Fi and LAN networks to discover responding devices, identify them through signals such as MAC vendor, hostname and OS, and report on open ports and services. Its desktop and mobile apps are aimed at homelabs, small offices, consultants and privacy-conscious power users who want a clearer view of connected devices. It is available for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, with web and self-hosted options also listed.

The security report is a central strength: it scores risk and checks for exposed services, default credentials, TLS weaknesses and CVE hints. Device presence monitoring can alert users when unknown devices appear, while availability history and per-device latency provide a record of network behavior. For ongoing oversight, the headless server edition supports continuous monitoring and alerts. REST API, Prometheus metrics and a local MCP endpoint offer additional ways to connect monitoring workflows.

The published plan is a €59 one-time license, including VAT according to the vendor, for one registered user. It includes the full v1 package: desktop, iOS and Android apps, plus the 24/7 server edition. The seven-day trial is not a free plan, and the license includes a 14-day money-back guarantee. DeviceShelf says scan data is stored locally by default, with optional online features opt-in; GDPR is listed. Email and documentation are the stated support channels. Choose it if cross-platform access, detailed checks and continuous local monitoring matter; look elsewhere if you need a free option or licenses for multiple users.
