Desk Support Monkey is an open-source IT service desk and asset management platform for organizations managing company hardware and IT operations. It is aimed at IT teams that need employee self-service, request triage, asset histories, procurement, maintenance, shipping, scheduling, and SLA tracking in one system. Employees submit requests through a portal, while technicians can manage equipment, approvals, vendors, budgets, and audit trails. The platform is available as self-hosted software or as a cloud service priced by company size rather than users or assets.

The pricing structure makes the product accessible to smaller teams and organizations with self-hosting capability. The Free plan costs €0 forever and includes self-hosting, unlimited employees, the full platform with no limits, unlimited assets and devices, an employee portal, and community support. Starter costs €49 per month and adds EU cloud hosting, automatic backups, managed SSL and security, email support with a 48-hour response, and no per-user or per-asset fees. Growth costs €99 per month and adds priority email support with a 24-hour response, NIS2 compliance reports in PDF, bulk asset operations, and advanced filters and search. Scale costs €199 per month and adds same-day support, direct CEO access, custom onboarding, DPA availability, and invoice billing.

Its strongest differentiator is breadth around the hardware lifecycle. Manager approval workflows, assignment history, purchase orders, vendor management, budgets, maintenance plans, delivery tracking, and appointment scheduling extend the service desk beyond ticket intake. AI classifies incoming requests by type, subtype, and priority hint, while weighted priority scoring uses request and employee attributes. Groq, OpenAI, and Claude Desktop integrations, scoped API keys, and an MCP server support platform and automation work. However, intake is portal-only, and teams seeking AI-generated knowledge answers should consider another product. Desk Support Monkey suits hardware-focused IT teams that value self-hosting and procurement workflows; it is less suitable for multichannel support or knowledge-answer use cases.
