Our verdict on DeiC DMP
DeiC DMP is an online tool for researchers to write data management plans describing how project data will be generated, collected, stored, used, reused and accessed. It is intended for people in Danish research and higher education, including institutional collaborators. Its templates and question-by-question guidance support plan creation, while sharing controls let users keep a plan private, collaborate on it, share it within an organisation or make it public.
Templates from funders and research institutions, including Horizon Europe, are a central part of the product. Collaborators can be invited to read or contribute with configurable permissions, and completed plans can be downloaded in multiple formats. Institutional research support staff can provide feedback when that option is enabled. These capabilities make DeiC DMP suited to organisations that want researchers and support staff to work around plans together, rather than to manage datasets or provide repository access.
The Free plan is described as free to use for research and higher-education institutions and organisations. The service is cloud-based and available on the web; listed support channels are email, phone and documentation. GDPR and two-factor authentication are among its stated compliance and security features. DeiC DMP fits institutions seeking a no-cost planning tool with templates and collaboration controls. Teams looking for repository access or broader dataset management should choose a product built for those tasks instead.
