Our verdict on CVumi
CVumi is a paid Windows desktop application for preparing tailored job applications. It imports an existing CV, analyzes strengths, gaps and fit against a job posting, then generates tailored CVs, cover letters and application emails. The workflow also includes interview preparation based on the job and company, multiple CV formats, and an option to open the local email client with the prepared application. It is aimed at applicants who want application drafting and job-specific analysis in a desktop tool, particularly those who prioritize keeping original documents on their own computer.
Pricing is based on one-time purchases. The Student plan costs €34 and includes tailored CVs, cover letter and email generation, fit analysis, AI-assisted editing, multiple CV formats and interview preparation. The Standard plan costs €69 and lists the same features. Student pricing is eligibility-based. Optional AI requests require the user's own provider and API key, while provider usage and charges are separate from the CVumi purchase. This structure suits buyers who prefer a one-time software cost but want to account separately for AI usage.
Privacy and editing controls are central to the product's design. Original documents remain on the user's computer, and AI requests use locally pseudonymized text before being sent. Users can also edit manually without AI or use section-level AI chat editing. Support for English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Italian and Portuguese broadens its usefulness for multilingual applications. The main trade-off is platform scope: CVumi currently runs only on Windows. Choose it for local document handling, tailored application support and interview preparation; applicants on macOS or those seeking an all-in-one AI cost should consider a different fit.
