Our verdict on Cursive Handwriting Practice
Cursive Handwriting Practice is an iPhone app from The App Studio LC for beginners, children learning with a parent, and adults revisiting cursive writing. Its core method combines augmented-reality projection with animated stroke guidance, placing cursive letters over paper for tracing. Practice extends beyond individual letters to words and sentences, while custom word and phrase input lets learners work with selected text. The app also includes pen-control exercises and progress tracking for practice sessions.
The standout feature is the AR paper projection. Instead of limiting practice to on-screen tracing, the app guides users as they write on physical paper, with animated strokes showing how letters are formed. Multiple cursive handwriting styles add choice, and the ability to enter custom phrases makes the exercise more adaptable to personal goals, names, or selected sentences. This gives the app a narrower but clearly defined role: guided cursive practice rather than a broad handwriting curriculum.
Pricing is presented through two Unlimited Access in-app purchases at $3.99 and $24.99. Full functionality requires an active subscription, so the app is suited to learners who want continued access to its AR guidance, custom text practice, and progress tools. The iOS-only availability also defines its fit: choose it for AR-assisted cursive practice on an iPhone, particularly when physical-paper tracing matters. Those seeking Android support, broader writing modes, or a non-subscription experience should consider another option.
