Our verdict on Cratefox

Cratefox turns a playlist link or tracklist screenshot into a locally stored, organized crate. It finds matching tracks from Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube and downloads them over the user's connection, then analyzes key and BPM on-device. DJs preparing libraries can sort harmonically with Camelot-compatible keys, review uncertain key detections with a second candidate, and see loudness and energy indicators. Cratefox is for preparation, not live deck mixing, so DJs looking for software to perform a set should choose a mixing tool instead.

The workflow goes beyond key and BPM analysis: Cratefox can clean filenames, flag files labelled 320 kbps whose audio may be lower quality, and export a Rekordbox-ready playlist with key and BPM tags. The vendor says exported files can also be read by Serato and Traktor; Engine DJ is also listed among its integrations. The software runs on Windows and macOS as a desktop app, with no cloud library sync. That local approach suits DJs who want to organize files on their own machine, while those who need a synced cloud library may prefer another option.

According to the vendor's pricing page, the Cratefox plan costs $5.99 per month or $49 per year, with the same listed capabilities on both billing options: playlist input, track discovery and downloading, on-device analysis, harmonic sorting, and Rekordbox-ready export. Cratefox is invite-only during beta, which can limit access for DJs wanting to start immediately. Email is the listed support channel. It is a focused fit for solo and small-scale DJs building crates from existing playlists; it is less suitable for anyone seeking live mixing, cloud library sync, or open access during beta.
